Purchasing an over 55s property

Retirement Homes for Sale

Units and Serviced Apartments at Woodlands Village are over 55’s properties.  All our village properties are designed and built to be easily accessible whether you can walk independently or need a cane.  Our first floor properties in The Lodge are accessible via a lift.

What does over 55 living mean?

An over 55’s village is a group of homes and facilities that have been designed specifically for those who are still able to live an independent life in their own home.  Most villages allow family members or visitors to stay who are under 55 as long as it is for a short term period.

What is the difference between a retirement village and an over 55’s community?

Retirement villages and communities often operate under different agreement structures (ie you can enter the village or community via a licence, loan or lease).  For over 55 communities, the agreement is generally over the land. In retirement villages, the agreement is over the building.

What is the difference between a retirement village and a lifestyle village?

With the increase in the over 55s housing market, the difference between a Retirement Village and a Lifestyle Village often just refers to the facilities offered.

What are the pitfalls of buying into a retirement village?

Whether buying in a normal residential street, or in a retirement village, there will be a cost to ‘buy’ the property.

If buying into a Retirement Village you need to check any recurring payments, ongoing fees, exit fees, deferred management fees and any other things you have to pay.

At Woodlands Village when you buy a unit or apartment you buy into a Company Title.  You become a part owner of the village.  We do charge monthly fees to maintain the operation of the village, plus fees if you take our Assisted Living package.  These are available upon request.

When you sell your retirement unit or serviced apartment you keep all the proceeds.
